Bakersfield Business Tax Certificates

All businesses located in or conducting business in Bakersfield are required to hold a current business tax certificate, commonly referred to as a business license. All business tax certificates expire on June 30 of each year. The following information are required for completing the application: business name and fictitious name, business address and telephone number, billing address, owner names, service of process addresses, type of business, type of organization, business start date, etc.

This dataset includes current and previously registered businesses and trades. The registered information for each business includes license number, business name, classification, location, issue date, telephone, etc.

The mission of the Finance Department is to efficiently and effectively maintain the fiscal integrity of the City of Bakersfield in support of the goals of both the City Council and all City Departments. This mission is founded and driven by a commitment to provide the best service possible from our four divisions of Accounting and Finance, Treasury, Purchasing, and Property Management as stewards of taxpayer's funds. The Treasury Division provides centralized cashiering, check distribution and investment of idle funds; administers and enforce the provisions of the Municipal Code relating to business licenses, transient occupancy tax and business regulatory permits.
